Overview
Effective March 27, 2025, the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) has permanently closed the Entrepreneur and Farm immigration pathways.
- No new applications or Expressions of Interest (EOIs) will be accepted.
- Existing applications and signed Business Performance Agreements (BPAs) submitted before this date will continue processing under current rules.
This category is for applicants who:
- Have farming experience
- Have capital to invest in farm operations
- Plan to relocate and run a farm in Saskatchewan

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify, you must provide:
1. Net worth
- Regular stream: ≥ $500,000 CAD, legally accumulated
- Young Farmer stream: ≥ $300,000 CAD, age under 40
2. Refundable deposit: $75,000 CAD trust deposit via BPA; returned after objectives are met, otherwise forfeited.
3. Exploratory visit: Minimum 5 working days in Saskatchewan to meet farm professionals and SINP reps before application.
4. Farm experience: Documented proof of ≥3 years in farm ownership, management, or practical operation (regular stream); required for Young Farmer too.
5. Farm proposal: A viable, profit-oriented plan to invest ≥$150,000 CAD in commercial farming (≥$10,000 annual revenue). Hobby farms not eligible.
6. Points grid: Score ≥ 55 points on SINP’s Farm Owner/Operator Intent Grid.
Young Farmer Stream (under 40):
- Net worth: ≥ $300,000 CAD
- Same farm experience & proposal requirements
- Applicant or spouse must have supplementary employment skills
Accompanying Farm Employee
If you wish to bring a farm employee:
- Farm app applicant must be nominated under Farm Category
- Employee must:
- Score ≥ 60 on SINP point grid
- ≥ 1 year farm work experience in last 10 years under principal applicant
- CLB ≥ 4 language level
- Submit SINP 100‑8 form + nomination certificate number - Principal's nomination must still be valid before worker applies
Application Process (Both Streams)
1. Prepare documents per SINP Farm Document Checklist
2. Translate non‑English/French docs: include original, certified translation, translator affidavit (non-family member)
3. Include spouse, common-law partner, dependent children, and optionally a farm employee
4. Net worth verification via KPMG or MNP (third‑party)
5. Passport copies with bio-data and all stamps
6. Submit application via email to saskentrepreneur@gov.sk.ca with current contact email
SINP Review Stages:
Intake & Pre‑Screen
- Receipt letter + file number → contact third party financial provider
- SINP screens for completeness & verification report
- If incomplete → return letter; if accepted → acceptance + payment instructions ($2,500 CAD fee)
Assessment
- Fee payment → detailed assessment
- May request additional docs or interviews
- Outcome letter with nomination approval + BPA & deposit instructions or ineligible letter
Deposit & Nomination
- Return signed BPA & deposit within 3 months → nomination certificate & PR instructions
- Six-month certificate validity; may lead to a Temporary Work Permit support letter
After Nomination
- Permanent Residence: Submit PR application before certificate expires; IRCC conducts security & medical checks
- Arrival: Within 90 days, attend Landing Interview; receive support via newcomer services
- Deposit Refund: Apply within 2 years after landing and ≥6 months of farm operation. Eligible applicants get full deposit + interest; failure, misrepresentation, or withdrawal leads to forfeiture
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I start a new application after March 27, 2025?
No. SINP’s Farm and Entrepreneur streams are permanently closed; no new EOIs or applications are accepted after that date.
What about farm employees?*
Yes. A farm employee with ≥1 year experience, CLB ≥ 4, and ≥ 60 points may apply once the principal is nominated.
Is deposit refundable?
Yes - if you meet the BPA terms, invest at least 6 months, and apply within 2 years, you’ll recover the $75,000 CAD plus interest; otherwise, it’s forfeited.
What’s the exploratory visit requirement?
You must indeed spend at least 5 working days in Saskatchewan before applying to engage with local farm advisors and SINP reps.
Do signed BPAs and pending programs get affected by closure?
No. Signed BPAs or applications submitted before March 27, 2025 will continue to be processed under existing regulations.
